Event Description:  The purpose of this session is to explore ways to maximize community resources to support literacy/numeracy gains for out of school youth enrolled in Title I WIA programs. Through interactive activities and structured dialogues, this session unpacks the challenges that programs have understanding and meeting standards created to demonstrate basic skill gain. The training explores different strategies that infuse literacy/numeracy into traditional and non-traditional learning environments. The intended audience for this training are WIA youth vendors.

Mass Career Information System (Mass CIS) Trainings for Youth

Event Desciption: This is a special Massachusetts Career Information (Mass CIS) training for Youth staff. The Massachusetts Division of Career Services (DCS) offers the Massachusetts Career Information System (Mass CIS) free on-line to all Massachusetts residents. Mass CIS is designed to provide occupational, wage, and educational information to help youth make better informed career and school choices. This is a half day program.

Zoomerang Survey:  This survey is designed to gather information regarding the extent to which services offered by the Massachusetts Workforce System’s youth programs meet recognized standards of quality of youth programming, as rated by individuals working daily to implement youth activities. It contains 16 categories that assess a program’s quality based on recognized standards for youth development practices. The end date for the survey is: September 19, 2008.
